Loosely based on the ‘Ejiri in Suruga Province’ print in Hokusai’s 36 Views of Mount Fuji, this work is a collage of newspaper cuttings – particularly, the photographs accompanying articles in the daily papers. The image shows reams of paper blown into the air by a gust of wind. The sense of impermanence and the ephemeral is heightened by the relation between the image, material and process. The work fluctuates between its constituent parts and the overall picture. The experience of looking remains in constant flux.
