This work is ‘Page 28’ collage (newspaper cuttings on canvas board), 30.5cm x 23cm, 2019.
The work is a depiction of a single erased or damaged page from a standard paperback-sized book. The ‘page’ no longer has any content, however it is in fact made from black and white photos cut from daily newspapers, therefore full of content. The work is speaking of erasure and remaking, abstraction and imagery, negative/positive space, minimal/maximal approaches.
The work is from an ongoing series of blank pages, each unique, 25 of which were included in a solo show in Osaka in 2020.
